Hey Diddle Diddle
Hey Diddle Diddle
Lyrics
Lyrics
The cat and the cow and the dog one day
Were playing together in the hay.
They found a little jar of sparkling dust,
That shimmered and twinkled and glowed with trust.
The dog said, “Let’s sprinkle it here and there!”
The sparkles floated into the air.
They landed softly on a spoon and dish,
And something happened—just like a wish!
Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon.
The little dog laughed to see such sport,
And the dish ran away with the spoon.
The cat saw the magic and grabbed a fiddle,
And played a tune so bright and little.
The cow bent down, then jumped with a swoon,
And leapt so high she touched the moon.
Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon.
The little dog laughed to see such sport,
And the dish ran away with the spoon.
The sparkles swirled in the silver light,
Dancing softly through the night.
Round and round the laughter grew,
As magic glittered in the dew.
Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon.
The little dog laughed to see such sport,
And the dish ran away with the spoon.
The sparkles slowly drifted away,
And the magic faded with the day.
The dish sat still, the spoon stayed put,
The cow came down with a gentle thud.
The cat put down his fiddle tune,
The dog lay under the sleepy moon.
They smiled and said, “What a magical night,”
Then drifted to sleep till morning light.
When a jar of magical sparkles appears on the farm, ordinary animals find themselves in a wonderfully silly adventure. A playful musical retelling of the classic Hey Diddle Diddle rhyme.
